The students' of Medical Sciences community projection in the arbovirosis prevention

Abstract

Introduction: the community projection in the medical sciences pursues to achieve a strong linking of the students in the primary attention of health and its high-priority programs, with emphasis in the program of prevention and control of the illnesses transmitted by vectors.   

Objective: to evaluate the impact of the activities developed in the community projection by the medicine students in the arbovirosis prevention.   

Material and Methods: It was carried out a non-observational study, quasi experimental, before-later,without a control group. In the medical office number 8 of the Policlínico 3 René Vallejo of Manzanillo, in the period of September of 2017 to January of 2018. We worked with an universe of 378 housings and local, of those that were extracted by an intentional non-probability sampling 130 housings. The statistical analysis was carried out through statistics descriptive.

Results: bigger control of the storage of the solid waste was obtained after the intervention with 85 % that maintained with cover the deposits of the same ones. The appropriate destruction of the possible focuses, after the intervention, 44 % increased. The technique that more the students of Medical Sciences applied was the educational chat with 60 %. The hygienic state of health-environmental became good in 68 %.  

Conclusions: It was possible to evaluate of positive the social impact, using the educational strategy and to be obtained, after having developed the intervention, an increase in the control of the factors of risk of the vector in the housings.
