Abstract

Within acute respiratory infections, bronchiolitis is a frequent cause of morbidity in children under 2 years of age, which is why it is a health problem. Its etiology is viral and its pathogenesis is explained by the action of viruses in the respiratory epithelium. Respiratory syncytial virus is the most isolated pathogen, although other viruses have recently been reported as the causative agent. This work is carried out with the objective of compiling updated literature on the etiopathogenesis of acute bronchiolitis, for which we reviewed 50 bibliographies, reaching a better understanding of the subject.
