Abstract

Resumen:

En la actualidad asistimos a un incremento acelerado y alarmante de la Diabetes mellitus tipo 2 en niños y adolescentes, lo que ha determinado que se considere una verdadera epidemia. Se presenta el caso de una paciente de 14 años de edad, negra, femenina, obesa, con diagnóstico de Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2, así como antecedentes de narcolepsia, la cual presentó aumento del apetito, de la ingestión de agua, del sueño y presencia de orinas turbias. Se le realiza una glicemia de urgencias constatándose cifras de 7.2 mmol/L. En consecuencia al cuadro clínico y a los exámenes realizados se le pone tratamiento con hipoglucemiantes orales observándose mejoría clínica.
