Pasteur and Koch: the parents of the microbiology

Introduction: the scientists of universal height Louis Pasteur and Robert Koch carried out transcendental contributions to the medicine, to the science in general and in particular, to the Microbiology, many of them transmit an irrefutable and high knowledge.
Objective:to describe the labor executed for Pasteur and Koch in the field of the Microbiology.
Method: a bibliographic review was carried out, using as information through the Infomed network, as well as the Google Academic Search engine, for which 26 bibliographies were reviewed, comprising as reference guides articles from databases such as Pubmed/Medline, Scielo and LILACS.
Development: in the history of humanity, there have been people who have influenced their peers, for their contributions to knowledge, for their determination to dominate the environment and put it at the service of human beings. Examples of this are Robert Koch and Louis Pasteur, who in their practices even exposed themselves to the risk of contagion, derived from handing and exposure to pathogens.
Conclusions: the formulation of the germs or microbes theory in the diseases was the main discernment in their researches.
