Abstract

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a strong impact on the educational systems of all countries in the Latin American region: the use of virtual platforms has intensified, which represents an advance in terms of educational technologies.

Objective: To determine the perceptions of the use of the Virtual Health Classroom by second-year medical students of Facultad “Salvador Allende”.

Method: A descriptive observational cross-sectional study was conducted from January 2022 to May 2022, in a population of 39 second-year medical students of the aforementioned medical school, with technological availability to answer the virtual survey and complete it. The statistical analysis was descriptive.

Results: The dimension perceived as contributing the most to the generation of new learning is motivation (80.34% positive perception). The dimension that contributes to a lesser extent is flexibility (64.96% of positive opinions and 13.68% of negative opinions). The evaluation given by the students at the end of the survey used was generally good, with an average rating of 4.49 points (out of a total of 5 points).

Conclusions: The general perception of the students who were the object of this research is positive regarding the use of the Virtual Health Classroom.
